The (not so) Hidden Men’s Mental Health Crisis
Tethr is the first peer-to-peer support platform that connects men for open conversations about real life. We provide men with a safe, barrier-free online space for open dialogue and genuine support, allowing men to connect deeply with themselves, other men, and everyone their lives touch.
It’s my personal experience that real connection and healing can be accomplished simply by having these conversations in a forum that encourages them, supports them, and destigmatizes them. I know from my own experience that consistently having these conversations has profoundly shifted my personal outlook, attitudes, and behaviors. I can honestly say that I feel like a better man today because of this work.
It is for this reason that myself and my two co-founders are currently building Tethr, the first online peer-to-peer support community for men to have open and honest conversations about issues going on in their life and their mental health. We believe that Tethr will provide any man regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, economic status, or anything else to create new friend groups and support structures, connect directly with other men through common experience, and have the open and honest conversations that are the antidote to isolation and despair.
About the F*ck with Feelings Campaign
So what is #WFWF? As a community, we’re creating a new world in which men are in touch with their thoughts and feelings — and they fu*k with both. “This initiative is meant to champion men who acknowledge and experience their feelings rather than being isolated by limited beliefs,” explains co-founder Addison Brasil. “The reason I wanted to use the word fu*k in the campaign is that it gives power to each man — the word can mean so many things. In being interchangeable, it gives power to honor what you’re feeling however it best serves you.”
“We fu*k with feelings came from an experience of my own. When asked by a mentor how I was feeling, I responded, “I feel worthless.” She lovingly explained to me that my answer was a thought, not a feeling. A life changing moment,” Addison adds. “Instead of experiencing sadness and anger, I was jumping to constructed thoughts about who I was.”
